women in television

My husband Matt told me something the other day that really caught my attention. He said he thinks I prefer television shows that have a female lead character over a male. My first reaction was to deny it. I thought it couldn't be true! I am definitely a feminist, but not a sexist. But then I started thinking about it and realized he had a point. I thought of some of my favorite shows and here's how I broke it down:

Male Lead
The Office
Arrested Development
Brooklyn 99

Mixed Lead
Modern Family

Female Lead
Park and Rec
30 Rock
Ally McBeal
Pretty Little Liars
The Mindy Project
New Girl

So I guess he has somewhat of a point. Maybe I'm a little biased because I can understand their characters better. I have to say, I'm glad that women are becoming the lead in more and more shows. :-)

What types of shows do you watch? Do you prefer a male or female lead?

As you have probably heard on the news, Stephen Colbert is replacing David Letterman on the Late Show. My dad used to watch The Colbert Report, and he read his book, I am America (And So Can You!). Although some people claim he is actually making fun of both Conservatives and Christians, after watching this video and this article, it seems his faith is real. It's nice to see a Christian late night host.
