I am going to the beach! I am staying with my friends Ashley Mills and Kelly Troyer and their significant others at the Wharf in Gulf Shores. I'm so excited!

I hope everyone has a magnificent Fourth of July!

same songs...different phases of life

Last night Matt and I went to see David Gray at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The tickets were a gift for his birthday back in April. I usually get him concert tickets as presents, because we haven't been able to go to as many lately (stupid Ticketmaster and LiveNation fees!). The show was amazing, I will probably post some videos on Monday.

When Mr. Gray, who seems like such a cool Brit, btdubs, started playing This Year's Love, I found my eyes filling up with tears. Let me explain.

I believe one of the coolest things about music is that certain songs can connect you back to another time in your life. In 2006, I listened to David Gray's White Ladder album ALL THE TIME. I remember what I was thinking and feeling and praying to God about when I was listening to it. It is so neat to see how God was watching over me at that time, and how he is still watching over me now. I have grown so much since then, and God (and David Gray's music) was there all along.

Last night while I was praying, I had it on my mind to specifically pray for those who were suffering at the moment. This morning I was told the father of a family of five in Marietta, who I knew, but not that well, passed away from a brain tumor last night. It is so frustrating that God could allow such suffering, when he is all-powerful. I am reading The Reason for God by Tim Keller, and there is a couple quotes in the chapter I am reading. They gave me hope for times when I am suffering, and I hope it gives you hope as well.

I believe like a child that suffering will be healed and made up for, that all the humiliating absurdity of human contradictions will vanish like a pitiful mirage, like the despicable fabrication of the impotent and infinitely small Euclidean mind of man, that in the world's finale, at the moment of eternal harmony, something so precious will come to pass that it will suffice for all hearts, for the comforting of all resentments, for the atonement of all the crimes of humanity, of all the blood that they've shed; that it will make it not only possible to forgive but to justify all that has happened. ~ Fyodor Dostoevsky (emphasis mine)

They say of some temporal suffering, "No future bliss can make up for it," not knowing that Heaven, once attained, will work backwards and turn even that agony into a glory. ~ C.S. Lewis

So I have been working on our wedding registry. I think we are going to do Bed Bath and Beyond, Utmost Interiors (for our Vietri) and Macy's (maybe). Are there any things you wished you had registered for, but forgot to? Or registered for but didn't end up using? I am not much of a cooker (but I am going to get better!) so there are a lot of kitchen supplies I am not sure if I need. Any advice would be appreciated!

I love this song. Maybe because it has Birmingham in it. Not sure if he is talking about Alabama or UK, but I'm just gonna say Alabama. Kinda random that it's in the Girl Next Door movie.

Have a swell weekend!

My friend Sarah Jean told me about Pinterest, a website where people share ideas of things they like with other people online. You can creat picture scrapbooks, called "boards." It's pretty neat, and a great place to get ideas for all sorts of things. I recently joined. Here are some of my "pins" that I have recently added to my boards.

So I definetly have a style of wedding invitations that I love. I don't really like the (boring) traditional invitations, but these have so much personality!

On the other hand, don't judge me if I have to use the traditional kind to save cost :-(.

This one is pretty out there, but still cool!

dolphins feeding in charleston

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I have an awesome video to show y'all. On the Friday we got engaged, our friends took a boat out through a river near Charleston. We started seeing tons of dolphins, and it was incredible. Then we saw something AMAZING! We saw the dolphins feeding, which apparently is really rare to see! They carouse a bunch of fish against the shore, then they leap at them with their mouth open, beach themselves on the shore and do a flip turn back into the water. We saw it happen about fifteen times. It was so neat! Check it out.
